Morewood Bikes are definitely the best thing to come out of this country, and their popularity overseas is testament that they are possibly the best bikes available. Hand Made in Pietermaritzburg by a group of passionate riders, headed by Patrick Morewood, these bikes look and ride amazingly well. Dirt Mag in the UK nearly started a staff war just deciding who would get the first ride on the Makulu.
With the Kenda-Morewood DH Team, and many other smaller, private teams opting to ride the Makulu or Izimu models, the quality is unquestionable, as the World Cup is the epitome of the sport, and the ultimate testing ground.
All the bikes use a tested and proven high forward single pivot system, to give the wheel a rearward axle path in the beginning of the travel, which helps get the bike up and over obstacles. The wheel path then straightens out giving and endless feel to the travel. The SPI pivots are located in the swingarm, as the extra width equates to higher lateral stiffness of the swingarm.
8” DH Rigs, 5.5” Trail bikes, a 4X bike, a jump hardtail, a few more in between, and a super light XC Full Sus bike on the way, Morewood offer the best solution to your new bike problems. Available as frames for custom builds, or as completes, we will get you on the Morewood you’ve been dreaming of.
Shova
The Trail King. Able to take to the trails, or Marathon races, the 5,5 inches of single pivot goodness will keep you rubber-side-down for longer. And most importantly, ahead of your mates.
Enza
Morewood took the jump bike and improved it. Smooth and fast, ready to take over anything from the local jumps to a BMX or 4X track. Oh, and it comes in Pink, so it must be good…
Mbuzi
In a word; versatile. A little more travel than the Shova, and a little more beef in the frame. 6 inches for trail riding or light downhill, triple rings or chainguide, the Mbuzi takes it all in its stride
Izimu
The bike that gave Morewood its legendary reputation. 8 inches of full-on Downhill sled. This bike is super fast, and impressively light, considering the beating it can take.
